6-8 September 2019 - Tofino, Vancouver Island
Friday 6 September, 3:00 pm, to 8 September, noon
The West Coast of Vancouver Island offers excellent photographic opportunities for those who are looking for beautiful and rugged wilderness. From driftwood covered coastlines and untamed beaches to the lush temperate rainforest, we will work on landscapes, long exposure and composition. As a local, I know the right places and times to observe nature in this beautiful region of the Pacific West Coast.
What to expect?
We will spend a lot of time in the field where you can practice as the lessons are being taught. We will cover the key elements of composition, use of light, creativity and workflow. All my workshops are customized to suit the individual or group level of photography technical and creative experience.
Expect a friendly, non-competitive atmosphere and lots of photographic instructions. My time is entirely dedicated to you. I rarely use my camera other than to demonstrate a technique or settings. My goal is for you to get the best possible images. The low participant-to-instructor ratio also encourages more one-on-one instruction time.
I am looking forward to show you my favourite spots. Contact me with all your questions and tell me about your goals and level of experience.

We will meet on Friday, at 15:00 hrs, and after a brief introduction, we will be heading out to the beach for our first field session. We will practice long exposure while the sun sets on the Pacific Ocean.
Saturday will be an early start to shoot the sunrise on the rugged coast. We could see some fog during this time of year, which will be to our advantage to create interesting landscapes. We will then move from the beach to the rainforest in the Pacific Rim Park Reserve to explore our creativity in capturing old-growth forest, tall trees and stumps covered with moss. There are a lot of interesting subjects and details to work on. Later in the day, you will have the opportunity to download your images and learn about post-processing. We will end the day with another sunset field session in a different location than the previous day.
Early Sunday morning, we will have a sunrise field session followed by a field shoot in Ucluelet. The workshop will conclude at noon.
The itinerary can change based on weather conditions, wildlife activity and the group’s photographic interests. Participants are expected to be flexible to the group’s needs.
I am looking forward to show you one my favourite places on Vancouver Island.
