Friday 7 June, 3:00 pm, to Sunday 9 June, 11:30 am

I love going to Bamfield because it’s in a remote area on the West coast of Vancouver Island, far from the touristic spots, next to the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Accessible only by boat, float plane or by car from a logging road that meanders through the forest and the island’s mountain range, Bamfield is a quaint little town with friendly people, older colourful buildings and a boardwalk running along the shoreline. Bamfield borders on the traditional territories of the Huu-ay-aht First Nations, who have been living in the Barkley Sound region since time immemorial. Old-growth forest, deserted beaches, dramatic coastline and abundant wildlife are the perfect setting for the nature photographer looking for a unique experience in the heart of the rainforest, on the wild west coast of Vancouver Island.

Join me for an intensive photo workshop in Bamfield where we will work on long exposures on the beach at sunrise and sunset, capture the essence of the rainforest and practice landscape photography while walking through the village.

As a local, I know the right places and times to observe nature in this beautiful region of the Pacific West Coast.

What to expect?

We will spend a lot of time in the field where you can practice as the lessons are being taught. We will cover the key elements of composition, use of light, creativity and workflow. All my workshops are customized to suit the individual or group level of photography technical and creative experience.

Expect a friendly, non-competitive atmosphere and lots of photographic instructions. My time is entirely dedicated to you. I rarely use my camera other than to demonstrate a technique or settings. My goal is for you to get the best possible images. The low participant-to-instructor ratio also encourages more one-on-one instruction time.

I am looking forward to show you my favourite spots. Contact me with all your questions and tell me about your goals and level of experience.
